Kalymnos - Arhi

Arhi means "beginning" in Greek, and appropriately refers to the very first climbing venue in Kalymnos. All the way back in 1996, this ocean of limestone caught the eye of a vacationing Italian climber, Andrea Di Bari. Soon, he was back and bolting lines. Fast forward a few years and the arrival of Aris Theodoropoulos, mountain guide and indefatigable guidebook writer, and the reputation of this small Greek island would spread like wildfire in sport climbing circles. 25 years later, there is still active development in Arhi, with a huge variety of climbing, from delicate slabs to overhanging pump fests, as well of course as the 3d tufa climbing Kalymnos is famous for.
